Eric Parish obtains Purdue University’s Lean Six Sigma certification

Eric Parish, Executive Vice President of MGT’s Education Solutions, recently received his Lean Six Sigma (LSS) certification through Purdue University. Many organizations employ Lean Six Sigma methodologies, which blend Six Sigma’s focus on reducing variation with Lean’s focus on eliminating waste.

Purdue’s LLS program gives successful candidates the problem-solving framework for improving processes known as Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) as well as gives them the tools for streamlining production and services from beginning to end. The curriculum at Purdue is unique in that instead of completing a course project, the students learn through case studies that offer greater flexibility and the opportunity to gain a more holistic understanding of tools for identifying waste and reducing defects.

Parish says “The certificate program through Purdue aligns with the performance improvement, project management, and client-focused work we do every day at MGT. Almost immediately after starting the program, I was able to apply Lean Six Sigma concepts and principals to initiatives with the Gary Community School Corporation turnaround team.”
